My child wants to play basketball: where to start in Arzier?

Your child wants to try basketball but you are not sure which team to sign them up for? At Arzier Basket, groups are organised by year of birth. Here is what you need to find the right category and prepare a first training session.

Which team for which age?

Find your child's year of birth in the cards below. They show the real state of registrations: if a team is full, it says so.

How the categories are organised

The categories follow the usual mini-basket logic: the youngest players discover the ball, coordination and playing together; as they grow, the focus shifts to technical fundamentals and team play; then comes competition.

At the club specifically:

• the U8, U10 and U12 teams are licensed with the Association Vaudoise de Basketball and take part in mini-basket tournaments;
• the U10–U12 girls' team does not take part in competitions for now, so that each player can progress at her own pace;
• Basket Détente is played without competition, at any level.

How many training sessions per week?

It depends on the team. Most groups train once a week; the U12 team trains twice. The day-by-day details are in the cards above and on each team page.

Where does training take place?

Every session happens in the same place: at the primary school (CCS) in Arzier-Le Muids. No travelling for the weekly sessions.

Tournaments take place in other halls around the canton. Dates are published in the club calendar.

What about a first session?

The way in is the information request. It is a short form with no commitment: your child's first name, your contact details, and that is it. Date of birth and years of practice are optional.

A club representative then gets back to you with the useful information, and the club may offer a trial day, also with no commitment. If everything suits you, you receive a secure link to complete the registration file — not before.

The club does not publish a list of compulsory equipment. In practice, sportswear, clean indoor shoes and a water bottle are enough for a first session. For any specific question, write to the club via the contact page.

My child has never played: is that a problem?

No. The request form explicitly covers beginners — the "years of practice" field simply accepts "beginner". Many children discover basketball when they join the club.

The main thing is to aim for the right age category and check whether the group can still take new players.

Are there still places available?

Some teams can still welcome new players, others are full. The exact status is on each card above and is kept up to date by the club.

If the team matching your child's age is full, you can still send a request: it will be recorded on the waiting list.
